Use case

Health Monitoring with Consul

Get real time updates on service reachability, Consul node status, and export health data to third party monitoring solutions.

Challenge

Maintaining updated health status

When deploying an application into production, it is crucial that it is resilient and highly available. It is also important that customers have visibility into the health of their services in the event that failures occur on the underlying resources so that corrective action can be taken quickly.

Solution

Use Consul for real time updates

Consul allows users to keep track of service and Consul node health in real time and can alert on degradations. Consul can also omit unhealthy services and nodes from DNS queries which allows for automatic failovers for failed service instances. Health data can be monitored with Consul's built-in UI or exported to integrated monitoring solutions like Telegraf or Datadog.

Improve uptime by using Consul health checks. Track the health of deployed services.
